Hi! I’m Dr. Veronica

With over a decade of experience, I have consistently integrated cultural competence and race-conscious frameworks into both my research and clinical practice. My work centers on the psychological impact of race, culture, and identity, with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive care.

I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, where I teach courses across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. In the classroom, I bring my research on racial identity, cultural humility, and race-based traumatic stress into conversations that prepare future clinicians for socially responsive practice.

Outside of academia, I consult for television and media productions, including projects for CBSParamount+,  and iTV. This work draws on my published research and clinical expertise to ensure psychological integrity, cultural sensitivity, and ethical care across casting, production, and aftercare processes.
